On December 5, 2019, the National Park Service and National Park Foundation will present the 97th annual National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at President’s Park in Washington, DC!

Free tickets for the lighting ceremony will be awarded through an online lottery that opens October 15, 2019, at 10 am ET; find it here.

The tree, steeped in history and tradition, will be surrounded by 56 smaller trees decorated with one-of-a-kind ornaments. Each tree represents a US state or territory, as well as the District of Columbia. Fifty-six artists gave their time and talents to design and create ornaments that symbolize their homelands’ history, heritage, and culture.

After the lighting ceremony and throughout December, visitors are invited to view the National Christmas Tree. On select nights, local and national music groups will provide holiday entertainment for a one-of-a-kind experience. The tree will be lit daily from approximately 4:30 to 10 pm.
