We are very proud of our Students of the Week.

Congratulations to our Spelling Bee winner, Katharine Wu in 8 th grade. She will now advance to the next level! Also, congratulations to Xander Hung in 6 th grade that was first runner up. Congratulations to all the class winners as well. We are proud of all our students.

Congratulations to our Geography Bee winner Giovanni Maddalozzo in 8 th grade. Good luck on the State qualifying test, Giovanni! Also, congratulations to Nerissa Liu in 7 th grade that was first runner up. Congratulations to all the class winners as well. We are proud of all our students.

Tomorrow, January 24 th , at 8:45 a.m., the 4 th grade will participate in Walk Through California and at 12:15 p.m., the 5 th grade will participate in Walk Through American Revolution. You are invited to attend.

Report cards will be distributed this Friday, January 26 th . As you know, our job at STA is to help your child reach their highest potential. If you have any questions or concerns, please communicate with the teachers.

Please join us for the 11:00 a.m. Family Mass, hosted by the kindergarten and 8 th grade this Sunday, January 28 th .

Also, this Sunday, January 28 th , begins Catholic Schools Week. The theme this year is “Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service”. During Catholic Schools Week, the Student Council will be having Spirit Week. It is:

Monday, January 29 th – Pajama Day

Tuesday, January 30 th – Twin Day

Wednesday, January 31 st – Wacky Wednesday (Opposite Day)

Thursday, February 1 st – Blue and Gold Day

Next Friday, February 2 nd , is an Archdiocesan Holiday for all students. The teachers will be attending professional development workshops that day.

Monday, February 5 th , is a minimum day. Dismissal is at 12:30 p.m.

STAR testing for K-8 th begins also Monday, February 5 th and ends on Thursday, February 15 th .

Wednesday, February 7 th , the following activities are occurring: 8 th grade Graduation Picture Day, 10:30 a.m. Honors Assembly, and 6:00 p.m. PTG Meeting.

The Annual Homecoming Dinner and Auction event is fast approaching on Saturday, February 10 th , at 6:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Tickets are still on sale for $75 per person at www.staptg.org/annualevent. Join us for a silent and live auction, photo booth, delicious appetizers, Original Joe’s dinner and gourmet dessert. On-site childcare is available for $15 per child. We need everyone to participate. This fundraiser will go to help pay our $2.2 million debt from our seismic upgrade. Thank you for your support of STA.

We have many volunteer opportunities available for the Homecoming event and it’s a great way to earn service hours. To sign up to volunteer, fill out the form that is in today’s packet OR sign up online at http://bit.ly/2018stagala. The form is due on Monday, February 5 th .

STA was honored to have Archbishop Cordileone visit us and re-bless the school as a result of our seismic upgrade. As part of tradition when an Archbishop visits, he decrees a holiday of our choice. Therefore, please mark your calendar for Friday, February 16 th , as the Archbishop’s holiday. We will not have school on this day.

While we do not advise taking vacations during instruction time, if you do, please review page 22 of the Parent and Student Handbook that you received first day of school. The handbook can also be read or downloaded online at www.sfsta.org.

Flu and cold season continues. Please keep your child home if they are not feeling well. They need to be without a fever for 24 hours before returning to school.
