RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Some lucky person is holding a Mega Millions lottery ticket worth $1,225,193, that was bought in Riverside County.
The ticket has five winning numbers but is missing the Mega number in Friday evening’s drawing of the multi-state Mega Millions lottery. The winning ticket was bought at the Vons on 11800 De Palma Road in Corona, according to the California Lottery.
The winning numbers drawn Friday were 3, 11, 12, 38, 43 and the Mega number was 15. The estimated jackpot was $750 million, but no ticket hit the jackpot.
California law requires major payoffs of lottery games to be paid on a pari-mutuel basis.
There were no tickets sold with all six numbers and the estimated jackpot for Tuesday’s drawing will grow to $850 million.
It was the only ticket with five winning numbers purchased in California, but it is one of seven sold nationwide. The others include two sold in New Jersey and one each in Florida, Michigan, New York, Ohio and Wisconsin. They are each worth $1 million, the Multi-State Lottery Association, which conducts the game, announced.
The drawing was the 35th since the last time a ticket with all six numbers was sold.
The odds of matching all five numbers and the Mega number are 1 in 302,575,350, according to the California Lottery. The overall chance of winning a prize is 1 in 24.
The Mega Millions game is played in 45 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. Virgin Islands.
